Pia Gallo has been a private art dealer since 1981. She began her career in Chicago and moved to New York City in 1994. Pia Gallo is dedicated to the research, acquisition, sale, and appraisal of fine old master and modern prints and drawings. She is a member of the IFPDA, CINOA, and CSEDT (Chambre Syndicale de l'Estampe, du Dessin, et du Tableau). Pia Gallo has participated in the annual IFPDA Fine Art Print Fair in New York, Master Drawings/New York, and The London Original Print Fair and has published several catalogues. She numbers many major museums and private collectors throughout the world as clients.

“…A number of drawings depicting a bather with her maid holding a towel or robe reflect Degas’s obsessive pursuit of this particular theme.
In the first state Degas extended the composition of the transferred fifth state (to a new and larger stone) and added the rounded back of the chaise as well as the figure of a servant holding a towel.
He scraped and redrew the bather, enlarging her body. Some 20 impressions have been located….”
