Diaries: Rose Wylie examines the inner dialectics of personal observations and public memories and vice-versa.

Rose Wylie, born 1934, paints, glues, collages, rips apart, tears and stitches together vibrant, energetic sceneries — every piece growing across the paper, like a garden of both personal memories and impressions of popular culture. This new series of large-scale unique works, hand-finished editioned prints with collage, painting, drawing, is based on the original pages from Clothes I Wore, a notebook and collection of drawings depicting the artist’s most memorable garments. Rose Wylie shows that there is no such thing as a fine line between private and public, memory and impression: “A diary can become history if better known.” (Rose Wylie).
