I am a second-generation dealer in Manhattan, in my case by appointment only, and regularly participate in art fairs across the United States. The Tolman Collection of Tokyo, my parents' gallery, is the world's largest publisher of contemporary Japanese print editions and supplies galleries around the world. Having been brought up in Japan in this milieu since childhood, I have forged close personal relationships with many of the now established artists and been instrumental in bringing the younger generation of artists to global recognition. Our galleries are known for their educational approach to print showing, for our tradition of buying entire editions and mentoring artists through exclusivity contracts, and for the pristine condition of the works that we show.

I grew up surrounded by a myriad of ever-changing works on paper on the walls of our house, as well as constant visits from the artists who had made these works of art, my de facto aunts and uncles. My parents' gallery, The Tolman Collection of Tokyo, opened in 1972 and has since then become the largest publisher of Japanese prints, known for its championing of contemporary printmakers working in Japan. I am proud to be a second-generation dealer, continuing the close friendships that my family has with the artists whose innovative and technically brilliant work we represent, an inventory of small, limited-editions -- both representational and abstract -- ranging from lithographs, etchings and silkscreens to the traditional woodblock technique for which Japan is rightly so famous.
