Jim Kempner Fine Art | New York City, US

Jim Kempner Fine Art, on the corner of 23rd and 10th, continues to imbue that old-school art world feel: a place where his artists, clients and neighbors regularly stop by to view great work, hang out for a bit and talk of painting, life and the madness of art. Jim Kempner has been an art dealer, based in New York, since 1987. His focus has always been to be accessible to everyone, from the new collector, to the museum curator, to the curious neighbor who walks in off the street. For over three decades he has placed work in major private collections and museums, worldwide. Since moving to Chelsea in the fall of 1997, Jim has created a program that represents nearly 30 artists of different generations, whose work crosses a broad spectrum of mediums, from painting, drawing, and printmaking to sculpture, photography and multi-media installation. The gallery is also a rich resource for master works of the mid- to late- 20th century which are coming back to the market from private collections. As a leading expert in contemporary prints, Jim has been a member of the International Fine Print Dealers Association (IFPDA) for over 25 years.

"Horse Blinders", James Rosenquist

"Untitled" (from On the Bowery), Cy Twombly

This is our 30th year exhibiting at the IFPDA Print Fair, so we decided to bring out some old friends from the past such as Robert Rauschenberg's "Bonnie & Clyde" inspired lithographs, "Storyline I","II" and "III" from 1968, as well as his early ULAE black and white stone lithos from the "Dante's Inferno" series, "Kar" and "Mark"; two rare early James Rosenquist prints; and, Cy Twombly's classic calligraphic screenprint from the 1970 Bowery Portfolio. We are showing some new friends as well, with a set of mixed media prints by Derrick Adams, "Party Guest 1" and "Party Guest 2", and three screenprints from Fiona Banner's "Don't Look Back" project, a stream of conscious reflection on D.A. Pennebaker's Bob Dylan documentary, "Don't Look Back". We have "acquired" many old friends in our 35 years of business, and we look forward to meeting some future old friends at this year's IFPDA fair.
